New Café for Westhill
Today (24/05/06) Stewart Whyte, Conservative
candidate for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine, revealed
that Westhill is to get a much needed cafe. Subway are to
open a branch at the new shops behind the police station
within a fortnight: "I was at the shops and I saw activity
at the unit, so I went and spoke to the workmen. I met the
shop owner and she showed the plans for the site to me."
The combined cafe and take away sandwich bar
will have seating for 27 people and she will be creating
around 12 full and part time jobs. She owns the Subway
franchise on Union Street and opened a new branch in Banchory
earlier this year.
Mr Whyte concluded: "A cafe came near the
top of every survey of local opinion that has been carried
out in the town. This is another piece of good news for
Westhill, the town is buzzing at the moment. Tesco are to
open on 5th June, Aldi have begun building their new store,
the redevelopment of the Westhill Hotel continues at a
pace and yesterday it was announced that oil based company
Acergy are to relocate up to 800 jobs at a new regional
headquarters at Westhill Business Park.
Westhill is a community that is really
starting to go places and I am working hard to do all that I
can to see that it continues to improve and progress."
