Outrage As Football Flags Are Torched

Today Stewart Whyte, Conservative candidate for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine condemned the burning of England flags in Stonehaven. On Friday night three flags were stolen from the home of Mr Alexander Clark of the town's Newbigging Drive. Mr Whyte: "This is a cowardly attack on freedom of expression and has put Stonehaven in the news for all the wrong reasons. I unreservedly condemn the theft and burning of the flags. The people who are responsible are an embarrassment to Scotland. Modern Scotland is tolerant and fair minded. Racism against someone's skin colour or religion is unacceptable to most people. Anti-Englishness is the last bastion of racism in Scotland and it is high time that it was taken more seriously than currently is. I hope that Mr Clark can accept that the people responsible for this act are not representative of the local community."
