Alex Johnstone MSP -
Pledges support for people living with long term conditions
240,591 people in North East Scotland live
with one or more long term condition. North East MSP Alex
Johnstone this week signed a pledge agreeing to work to
improve support, information and services.
The pledge was part of an exhibition in the
Scottish Parliament by a new Scottish charity that brings
together organisations that support people living with long
term conditions. The Long Term Conditions Alliance Scotland
(LTCAS) is made up of over 60 charities that help people
with conditions such as; asthma, epilepsy, M.E., skin
conditions, mental health problems, diabetes, heart disease,
cystic fibrosis and cancer.
Chair of LTCAS, Audrey Birt said; “We are
delighted that Alex Johnstone has signed our pledge today.
Over a third of the Scottish population live with at least
one long term condition and the Scottish Parliament can do a
great deal to improve the kind of support and services
people receive.”
