Patience Needed Over Cliff
Top Path Maintenance
North
East
based MSP Alex Johnstone is appealing to local residents to
heed the warning that the costal path from the war memorial
to Dunnottar castle is closed until the 21st March. The MSP
who regularly walks the path himself has spoken out after
seeing many walkers, some with small children, continuing to
use the path particularly at weekends when work is not in
progress.
"I am
delighted that this long overdue work to improve the
accessibility of the cliff top walk, but I must warn walkers
to heed the signs informing them of the temporary closure.
While work is progressing well and the path has already been
upgraded at the North end, some of the most difficult and
dangerous parts are still to receive attention including
those where the recent wet weather has caused slippage and
others where the surface has been undermined by rabbits.
"With work
going well, this beautiful coastal walk will be fully open
again for the spring and summer and I would urge everyone
who enjoys this local amenity to be patient over the next
few weeks"
