Conservative MEP Struan Stevenson Was In The Mearns
Conservative
MEP, Struan Stevenson was in the Mearns last week as part of
the European Election campaign. Accompanied by Alex
Johnstone MSP he visited Arbuthnott Wood Pellets Ltd where
they were shown round the 'state of the art' wood pellet
fuel manufacturing facility on Arbuthnott estate by Keith
Arbuthnott.
The pair heard how demand for the 'Stovies'
wood pellet has rocketed since production started and the
number of domestic and light industrial boilers using the
fuel is growing every year, making a real impact on the
amount of fossil fuel being used in Scotland.
Speaking after the visit, Alex Johnstone MSP
said, "With the Scottish Climate Change Bill likely to pass
in to law this summer, companies like Arbuthnott Wood
Pellets are well placed to both contribute to the reduction
in Scotland's carbon dioxide emissions and capitalise on the
changes which the bill will encourage to the ways in which
we choose to heat our homes."

flagship product, the 'Stovies' wood pellet.
