Help For Heroes
Tory MSP Alex Johnstone handed over a cheque
for one hundred and fifteen pounds to the 'Help for Heroes'
charity this week after selling calendars to his colleagues
in the Scottish Parliament.
Mr Johnstone said "I know that many people
throughout the UK have come up with some fantastic ways of
supporting this very worthwhile charity. I think selling a
calendar featuring serving men and women wearing uniform and
in 'civvies' was a great way of raising money for those who
have been injured whilst serving their country in some
extremely hostile conditions."
"Our troops are doing a magnificent job and
we are all very proud of them."
The calendar, which feature photographs of
servicemen and women, was photographed by north east
soldier, Major Danny McDermid. Major McDermid said "So far,
I believe we have raised in excess of fourteen thousand
pounds which will be used to help our forces personnel who
have been injured whilst serving our country. This money
will be put to very good use, and I am very grateful to
everyone who purchased one of these calendars."
