No Funding Yet for Kemnay Academy

North East MSP, Alex Johnstone, has expressed his disappointment that Kemnay Academy has been overlooked in the latest round of school buildings to be part funded by the Scottish Government.

The announcement comes less than two weeks after the local Conservative candidate raised the matter with the Junior Education Minister, Keith Brown MSP, in questions to the Scottish Ministers in Parliament on 17 September.

Speaking after Kemnay was omitted from the latest funding round, the Conservative MSP said: “I am disappointed that Kemnay Academy has been missed off the list of priorities for this next funding round after I had raised the school and its needs with the Minister so recently.

“Nonetheless, the campaign will continue to secure support for this vital project and I will also be demanding that the Government forget their dogmatic opposition to the kind of funding mechanisms which provided other school buildings including the new secondary school at Old Meldrum in recent years.

“The young people of Kemnay and its surrounding area deserve better treatment than this.   The campaign will go on.”
