Fettercairn Arch works – “On hold” say Councillors

Mearns Conservative Cllr George Carr reported to Mearns Community Council this week that works which were due to start on 9th January to realign the controversial road layout at Fettercairn Arch have been requested by Mearns Cllrs to be put on hold.

Colin Pike selected as Conservative candidate for North Kincardine

Scottish Conservatives and Unionists have selected Colin Pike to be their local candidate in the North Kincardine ward for next year’s Aberdeenshire Council elections.

Colin was elected by local members at a meeting at the Bettridge Centre, Newtonhill, on Friday, September 16.

Mearns Councillor welcomes decision on Laurencekirk playing fields

Mearns Conservative Councillor, George Carr has welcomed the decision on the existing Mearns Academy playing fields. Aberdeenshire Policy and Resources Committee recently voted overwhelmingly to retain the playing fields against a recommendation to sell.

Councillor Carr said "local groups have been campaigning for several years now and this is a significant milestone to bring some closure to this matter. Mearns Community Council and all the consultations on Laurencekirk going back to those on the Community Centre were clear that these pitches should be retained."
